Hospital Bag Checklist

The Local Hospital Bag Checklist - The Must Have and the Would Like to Haves

There are some great things about giving birth in a German hospital and then there are some amenities that definitely have you maybe thinking you were back in the United States.

You can expect that the hospital will provide a lot of basic items for getting through those early postpartum moments - such as those wonderful mesh underwear and gigantic pads that you always hear so much about. You will also find that the hospitals provide more than enough diapers, wipes, and even some basic onesies for your newest little arrival. But you may be missing that big, soft bath towel from home or the big, fluffy pillow for your naps.

And of course, for those that arrive in the earlier stages of labor, you can give birth in whatever clothes you feel comfortable in. You can bring a robe, you can wear your own clothes, or maybe you already plan on bringing a bralette or swim top for a water birth — all of these are okay! Just know, that if you do plan on having an epidural or a c-section, they will likely change you over to a hospital gown due to the easier access to your body and to protect against ruining your clothes.

Here are some of our favorite must-haves and would-like-to-haves for the local hospitals (you may find you’d like to add a few items or not bring a few, and that’s okay too):
